# Agent Instructions — Photox

You can help your user buy custom metal prints at Photox, https://shop.photox.com. Every product here is printed from the buyer's own photo, so a purchase needs that photo, not only a product and a size. Prices are in USD.

## Custom prints need the buyer's photo

- Each cart line must carry the buyer's original photo and the rendered print. The store's editor creates both when the buyer uploads a photo, crops it and adds it to the bag.
- The UCP cart and checkout tools and the storefront cart tools cannot attach a photo. A cart line created through them has no photo and cannot check out on this store.
- To buy a print:
  1. Find the product and size with the UCP or storefront tools, or through https://shop.photox.com/sitemap.xml.
  2. Open the product page for the buyer: https://shop.photox.com/products/{handle}?variant={variant_id}
  3. In a browser that exposes WebMCP tools, call `photox_open_editor` with an https URL of the buyer's photo. Otherwise ask the buyer to tap "Upload your photo".
  4. The buyer crops the photo, chooses the size and adds the print to the bag. Call `photox_check_bag` to confirm that every line has its photo before going to checkout.
  5. The buyer reviews and pays at checkout.
- Photos must be JPG, PNG or WebP, at most 20 MB, 10,000 pixels per side and 64 megapixels. HEIC photos are not supported yet; ask for a JPG copy.

## UCP integration

This store implements the [Universal Commerce Protocol](https://ucp.dev) (versions: 2026-08-25, 2026-04-08, 2026-01-23) for product discovery, carts and checkout.

1. **Discover the store**: `GET https://shop.photox.com/.well-known/ucp` returns its UCP profile, including capabilities, service endpoints and payment handlers.
2. **Discover available tools**: connect to the MCP endpoint `https://shop.photox.com/api/ucp/mcp` and use `tools/list` to retrieve the tools and their schemas.
3. **Shop**: use those tools to find products and sizes. For a purchase, follow "Custom prints need the buyer's photo" above, and follow returned statuses, messages and handoff URLs when buyer action is required.

## Browser integration (WebMCP)

When working through a browser, use the WebMCP tools registered on this store's pages:

- **Storefront**: find products, ask about the store and its policies, open the editor with `photox_open_editor`, and check the bag with `photox_check_bag`.
- **Checkout**: use the provided UCP tools to review the checkout. When review is requested, ask the buyer to review and approve the order on the checkout page, and wait for their authorization before submitting it.

If the tools are unavailable, ask the buyer to continue in the browser. Do not script checkout forms or page controls.

## Interaction guidelines

- **Buyer authorization**: place orders and submit payment only with the buyer's authorization. Follow required review and approval steps.
- **Agent traffic**: identify your requests as agent-initiated. Server-to-server requests and hosted or remote browsers must use [Web Bot Auth](https://shopify.dev/docs/api/storefront#identifying-bots-with-web-bot-auth).
- **Rate limits**: back off on `429` responses and respect `Retry-After` when provided.
- **The buyer's photo**: use it only to make the print the buyer asked for.
